She is a first-generation college student who experienced several challenges in completing her degree while not receiving FAFSA. Through this experience and her family members disabilities, she became an advocate for disability and immigration issues. During her undergraduate career, Catalina was involved in several student organizations by being a member and holding executive officer positions. Through this work, she began to see the need for advocacy, training, and education within the communities she is in. Consequently, Catalina began the Immigrants & Refugees with Disabilities Committee in CNLD in which she currently Chairs.
