Gabriela Almeida
My name is Gabriela Almeida and I am a Latina studying biology with a minor in disability and human development at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Throughout my academic career, I have greatly enjoyed working with organizations fighting for the rights of women, people with disabilities, and immigrants. I am excited to be working with CNLD throughout these next couple of months and learn how to better serve the Latinx community.
During her internship with CNLD, Gabriela organized "A Conversation about Immigrants with Disabilities".

Lydia Garcia
My name is
Lydia Garcia and I am a senior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Disability and Human Development. I am also on the Pre-Occupational Therapy track, so my long term goal is to become an Occupational Therapist. My interest in learning about disability studies started a few semesters ago and the main reason was because I wanted to get a better understanding of how disability policies work and to be better informed of the amazing culture within the disability community. I was reading over the mission statement that CNLD stands by and I think its a great resource to have within the Latinx community that embraces each identity and helps advocate for rights, resources, and education.
During her internship with CNLD, Lydia organized "A Conversation about Immigrants with Disabilities".

Rachel Johnson
My name is
Rachel Johnson. I am a senior at the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduate in May with a Disability and Human Development degree. I want to learn about disability in other communities. I believe this is a great start for expanding my knowledge and extend my help in any way. I have been working with UIC's Orientation for 2 years and I always made sure that students who had a disability and needed accommodations were accounted for.

During her internship with CNLD, Rachel organized "A Conversation about Immigrants with Disabilities".
